Finished Just In Time!


I'm so happy with how the project turned out! I went through two rounds of extremely helpful playtesting, bouncing ideas back and forth with my brother. I can't tell you how much the game improved after those sessions. I also just learned a lot in general while working on this project. Of the games I've made, this was the first that sprang from one of my passions, marrying the concept itself with the gameplay from the beginning. The writings of Homer are very important to me, and I really wanted to do them justice. 

I'd never taken part in a game jam before, and I found that the time constraint really supercharged my creative process. It also pushed me to get the project out the door (the biggest problem with any passion project, even outside of game design). I ended up submitting the game within an hour of the actual deadline, and was actively adding features dangerously close to that mark. The time limit helped me to really learn project management, and the prioritization of tasks. Big thanks to Adventure Jam 2023 for creating an environment where I could express myself and learn so much. 

I also want to thank Underware for the use of their font Unibody 8, which added the perfect feel to the text!
